ISI District 10 (Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin) by Jane Schaber, CSD, District Director

It has been a busy and successful competition season in District 10! We had eight competitions — two of which were new events. Tanks to Barb Yackel for all of her efforts in making sure our district credentialing policy continues to run smoothly, and to all the competition directors

who make sure the policies are followed for their events. It is wonderful to see programs and events developing

in South Dakota to offer more competition options for our skaters, and hopefully this will help nurture their skating programs. We are working hard to increase participation in other areas of our district, including Iowa and Wisconsin. It is promising to be receiving calls and emails from skaters, parents and coaches in those states, inquiring how they can become a part of the ISI programs and be able to compete in ISI events both locally and nationally. We are well on our way with the planning of 2016 ISI

Worlds to be hosted by Schwan Super Rink in Blaine Minn., July 25 – 30. We hope many skaters will join us for some “MN N’ice” hospitality during the event. Our district testing continues to be strong, resulting in

five Freestyle 8 skaters and three Freestyle 9 skaters since January. Tank you to all of the judges who give their time to make these test sessions possible and to our district test chair, Sandy Wittmann. All in all, our district seems to be doing well based on

reports from skating directors and coaches, who report an upswing in learn-to-skate enrollments. While competition numbers appear to remain relatively even, we continue to see skaters entering more events at the competitions.

ISI District 11 (Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Texas) by Caroline Baker, District Director

District 11 hosted the 2015 Holiday Challenge Championships in McKinney, Texas. Lisa Cushley and her team did a nice job hosting this event. A big thank you to the ISI office

for organizing this

competition. Te local rinks were well represented, in spite of many holiday shows

in the area. Skaters and coaches are always excited to see a national competition come to our area. District 11 is off to a good start this year. In January, Sun City Blades, El Paso, Texas, hosted their first figure skating camp. Teir skating school director, Sandra Pelko, reports that their goal was to bring in new skaters. Tey had a good turnout and added new members to their skating program. ICE at Te Parks in Arlington, Texas, hosted their annual

Winter Party on Jan. 22. Te party is free to all and goody bags are given out to all skaters. Skaters participate in different activities, including sled rides, snowman building (this is a novelty in this part of Texas), hockey shooting and, of course, ice skating. Te Dr Pepper Star Center in Euless, Texas, hosted the

annual Love To Skate Competition, Feb. 6-7. Christy Malacrea did a nice job organizing and hosting the event. On April 1, the Sun City Blades of El Paso, Texas, hosted

an exhibition. Tis allowed skaters to showcase their talent. Jennifer Anderson, from NYTEX Sports Centre in North

Richland Hills, Texas, is excited to report that they are hosting their first annual open competition / summer skate-tacular, August 13 and 15. For more information, contact Jennifer at 817-336-4423. Te Dallas Stars has partnered with local rinks to continue

offering the Little Rookies Free Hockey Trial Camps for another season. Tese camps are open to boys and girls, age 4-8, and run four weeks. Tis program began in September 2013. Tere are approximately 10 rinks throughout our district participating. Skaters learn basic skating and hockey skills. All equipment is provided and the skater keeps their jersey. Everything is free! Spring Break is a great time for rinks to host beginner

classes, spring camps, etc. ICE at Te Parks offered beginner classes and has recently added “Deal of the Week” promotions through Facebook and Instagram. Upcoming District 11 competitions, shows, clinics and

ISI District 12 (Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming) by Debbie Lane, District Director

Spring is a busy time in Colorado for skating. I am usually sending in news from District 12 during sunny weather. As I write this report, we are having a spring blizzard. Fortunately, snowy weather is nature’s marketing tool for ice arenas! It seems to bring the public into the rinks.

We still managed to host our free District 12 seminar on the last Friday of February. We had great speakers for both
