is abused. It is important to support the child by assuring that he or she did the right thing by telling — do what you can to make them feel safe. Let the child know you will need to make a report and get help. Child abuse must be reported to local child protective services and/ or local law enforcement. If you are unsure whom to call, contact the 24-hour Childhelp National Child Abuse Hotline at


1-800-4-A-CHILD (1-800-422-4453) and they will refer you to your local services. As a sports community, we share a


role in protecting and serving our young athletes. The key is prevention and education to help maintain a culture of awareness and security.
