AGC Launches Multi-Pronged Response to Inform Industry, Support Members on COVID-19

AGC of California has sprung

into action to help members navigate the latest developments relating to COVID-19 and its many impacts to the construction industry and to member projects. Te association’s multi-pronged

response to the COVID-19 crisis includes ongoing outreach and advocacy work with local, state and federal officials to secure clarity for the construction industry around shelter- in-place orders, education and training opportunities for member firms, safety and health support, development of a jobsite protocol template, labor relations clarifications and more. Following are just a few of the

initial actions initiated by AGC in the first two weeks of the California

Shelter in Place order:  On April 1, AGC initiated a COVID-19 Safety Stand Down, joining forces with member contractors, labor partners, project owners and supporters across

California for a unified moment to focus on the industry’s number one priority: the safety and health of jobsite crews.

 In compliance with the orders issued by the Bay Region Counties on March 31, and additionally, the call for further compliance from the County of Los Angeles, AGC of California developed a Jobsite Protocol Template. Tis template includes expanded social distancing protocols, assessments, checklists, and a project response investigation policy that meets all of the requirements of the revised orders.

 Family First Coronavirus Recovery Act Guidance: Te AGC of California Labor Relations Team, working with Labor General Counsel Rocky Miller, created a guidance document for the Family First Coronavirus Recovery Act specific for Union Contractors. Te guidance addresses questions heard

from UCC members about benefit contributions and interactions with existing trust funds.

 AGC led a webinar on April 3 to review Jobsite Safety Plans that meet all of the requirements mandated by the CDC’s Guidance for Businesses and Employers. Te webinar covered resources available to help members create a Jobsite Safety Plan and best practices in the supervision and enforcement on jobsites across the state.

 Members of the AGC of California Safety and Health Council are available to help members navigate workplace concerns and questions through the COVID-19 Safety & Health support line on the AGC website. AGC members can submit questions or concerns and a repre- sentative from the council will follow up as soon as possible. All of the most up to date AGC

responses and resources are centralized on the AGC website at www.agc-ca.org/ COVID19/. You can also follow along with AGC’s latest updates on social media. 

On April 1 California’s construction industry unified in a statewide COVID-19 Safety Stand Down. AGC members, union partners, project owners, and other associations joined together for this important moment to shine a light on the importance of safety during this crisis.
