honored for safety excellence. “Safety is the cornerstone of every- thing we do in our industry. Our primary goal as an industry is to ensure that every employee returns home safely to their loved ones, allow them to carry out their essential work in a safe environment, and contribute to California’s growth,” said Peter Tateishi, chief executive officer of AGC of California. “Congratulations to this year’s award winners who serve as outstanding examples for our industry.” 2023 AGC of California Safety & Health Council Chair Chris Jones, ACCO En- gineered Systems, provided opening


remarks at the luncheon along with Geor- gia Bergers, vice president of marketing, HammerTech. Joining them in the awards presentation program were AGC of Cal- ifornia President Elect Steve Rule, vice president and project director, Turner Construction; Robert Lucchesi, director of safety with Teichert Construction; Chad Lee, regional manager, general con- struction, Milwaukee Tool; and keynote speaker Patrick Nelson, chief executive officer, Loyalty Point Leadership. In her opening keynote address, Bergers announced the winners of the Hammertech Safety Scholarship, a new initiative open to students demonstrating outstanding academic achievements in fields like construction management, construction engineering and related areas. Four students received the award, including Rafael Hernandez Andrade, CSU Long Beach; Juan Diaz, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo; Jared Lynch, CSU Fullerton; and Lorraine Mae, CSU Long Beach.
