AGC Installs 2019 Officers, Spotlights Industry Issues in Recent Meetings


AGC of California held its first


Division and State Board meetings of 2019 and its Installation of Officers banquet at the Disney Grand Californian Hotel in Anaheim January 24-25, 2019. Te AGC State Board tackled a


variety of issues during its meeting. Topics ranged from standardized subcontractors prequalifications to AGC’s 2019 legislative priorities as well as an array of other internal business and member-focused initiatives. State directors heard from the


association’s top leadership, including reports from AGC of California CEO Peter Tateishi and 2019 President Jerome Di Padova among others. 2019 officers were officially sworn in. Tey include: President Jerome Di Padova, Skanska USA Civil West CA District, Senior Vice President Mike Blach, Blach Construction, Vice President Dina Kimble, Royal Electric Co., and Treasurer Steve Rule, Turner Construction Co. Walt Johnson, K.G. Walters Construction, is Immediate Past President.


Technology in the Spotlight During AGC of California’s


Building Division meeting, led by Chair Jim McLamb, Clark Construction Group, attendees engaged in an interactive presentation and Q&A session with construction technology experts Brian Krause of Clark Construction and Tai Nguyen of Hensel Phelps, both Directors of Virtual Design and Construction at their respective companies. Tey discussed innovative technologies currently available for construction contractors and offered tips on how businesses can pick the right ones for their needs. Joel Rogers, AGC Director,


Professional & Industry Development, addressed how AGC is seeking to better target the types of technology training and education to meet member needs.


Engineering Roundtable AGC of California’s Joint


Engineering Division held a lively roundtable discussion on leading industry issues during its meeting on January 25, led by chair Clinton Myers, Myers & Sons Construction, LP. Directors tackled such topics as DBE Compliance and engineering estimates


versus actual construction costs of public projects, among others. Tey heard political updates on the impacts of the recent federal government shutdown and a statewide housing initiative of California Gov. Gavin Newsom. Various AGC committees and


councils held their business meetings during the two-day gathering as well, including the Construction Education Foundation, Specialty Contractors Council, Associates Council, Small Business Council, Safety & Health Council and others.


AGC Officers Installation


Over 250 people turned out to welcome AGC of California’s leadership for 2019 during the Installation of Officers banquet on the evening of January 25, held in conjunction with the first quar- terly board meetings in Anaheim. AGC plans a variety of statewide,


regional and local event during 2019, including its Legislative Summit May 21-22 in Sacramento and its Annual Conference slated for October 9-12 in Huntington Beach. 
