EDUCATION AND WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT

AGC CEF Video Highlights 2013 Scholarship Recipient

The AGC Construction Education Foundation (CEF)

released a new video this year highlighting the programs and services that AGC CEF offers. The video featured previous Construction Career Aware-

ness Days, scholarships, Student Chapter support, and testi- monials from current and graduated AGC Student Chapter members that have participated in AGC CEF events and/or had received a scholarship from AGC CEF. One of the many people highlighted in the video was

Gina Vongaeo, a local 152 carpenters apprentice that was also highlighted in the Northern California Carpenters Regional Council magazine earlier this year. Vongaeo was a 2013 AGC CEF direct scholarship recipient.

She received the highest award of $2,000 and was ranked the highest out of 27 students with her compelling application. She was the first scholarship recipient to be awarded from the trades and was also featured in the new AGC CEF Video. To view the new video, please visit www.agc-ca.org/ce-

Leadership Council (CLC) and start paving the path for his future involvement in AGC leadership. During the AGC Fall Conference 2014, he was part of a panel of Student Chapter alumni who gave students attendance pointers about their first two years of working in the industry post-graduation. He also helped to lead a discussion on how to bridge the gap between participation in Student Chapters to participation in the CLC.

Harrell and his “story” illustrate a growing recruiting opportunity for our industry and AGC.

Growing Recruitment Opportunity We expect many big things to come for this emerging con-

struction professional, and AGC of California and AGC CEF are proud to play a small role in his success. Harrell and his “story” illustrate a growing recruiting opportunity for our industry and AGC, both in recruiting future management/leadership from our AGC Student Chapters who are graduating with an in- depth understanding and appreciation for AGC membership, as well as in increasing our recruitment and support of veterans. Many of those veterans are leaving the military with the skills and work ethic necessary to be strong contributors to the skilled workforce/trades. In 2014, AGC CEF released a video highlighting AGC Stu-

dent Chapter members, alumni and former scholarship recipi- ents. To hear what they have to say about their experiences with AGC and CEF and find about what they are up to now, visit www.agc-ca.org/cefoundation.aspx.
