will establish an endowment ac- count
This significant commitment yielding
the California
Landscape and Irrigation Coun- cil Inc. Scholarship, which will be awarded annually. The
scholarship will be awarded to students who portray
academic excellence working towards a degree in the landscape construction, contracting, engineering, construction management, business administration and/or related fields. The scholarship is also open to members of union trades specific to landscape careers. The first CLIC, Inc. Scholarship is set to be awarded fall of 2015 in the amount of $1,000. “We presented the idea of a founder’s scholarship
back in March at one of the CLIC board meetings. All agreed that it would be a great opportunity to promote landscape and construction in the trades and the degree path,” said Bob Cowan, Past CLIC President and current AGC CEF Board member. “CLIC is very excited to work with AGC CEF to award deserving students scholarships this year and for years to come.” The AGC CEF Founder Scholarship Program
gives member companies the opportunity to make a donation and receive a named scholarship honoring their association. An endowment account is sub- sequently established with the donation to which the continued accrued interest will fund an annual scholarship in the member company’s name. This program extends the opportunity for AGC mem- bers to create a legacy for their association that is recognized annually and honored with each recipi- ent’s educational accomplishments. Current AGC CEF Board Chair, Cathy Skeen,
said, “The donation made by CLIC is the largest one-time gift received from a partner organization, and AGC CEF is excited and proud to partner with them to award an annual scholarship for students who will be responsible for the future of our work- force.” For more information about the CLIC, Inc.

Orange County District Hosts Annual Grassroots Luncheon
The Orange County AGC District held their annual grassroots luncheon at the Santa Ana Country Club in June. This is always a well-attended and fun event for AGC members, as well as local legislators. The luncheon’s purpose is to meet and get to know local Assembly and Senate members and to have an opportunity to discuss issues of concern to the construction industry. With the current drought situation and infrastructure needs, there were plenty of issues for the legislators to cover. The legislators attending the event included, left to right: Assembly Member Matt Harper (R-Huntington Beach), Assembly Member Don Wagner (R-Irvine), Assembly Member Ling Ling Chang (R-Diamond Bar), Senator John Moorlach (R-Costa Mesa,) and Senator Pat Bates (R-Laguna Niguel).
