skills and readiness and strategize about ways to sustain the goals of the ACE Scholars program and institute. A few of the comments from ACE Scholars prior to attending the Institute that were recorded in the proceedings of the Institute include the following: - ‘‘I am grateful for the experiences and opportunities that the ACE Program has provided. I will cherish the memories that have been made and the connections that have been established with staff and fellow cohorts.”
‘‘I love working in the library. I am thankful for the ACE Scholar Cohort that have broadened professional experiences (academically and through NCLA, ALA, and NCCCLRA memberships).”
-
‘‘I really enjoy graduate school and really look forward to working in the field. Libraries are really near and dear to me and so are people. I hope to contribute to this field in some way that enables me to really enact positive changes in my community.”
-
- ‘‘After graduating with my MLIS degree, I would like to become an education librarian or a cataloger.”
- ‘‘After graduating with my MLIS degree, I would like to practice community based librarianship by engaging local communities and supporting their information needs either in a public or community college setting. I look forward to productively applying personal cultural history education to their work as well as, particularly to address issues related to diversity.”
Overall, I have enjoyed working with students, faculty and staff in the LIS Department. Serving on planning committees for the program; working with students as a mentor; reviewing resumes and cover letters; providing mock interviews practice. I continue to enjoy the opportunity to meet future librarians and share ideas for careers in the field. Minute by minute, I am always ready and willing to learn something new!
