International Trails Symposium in 2019. The name and focus has evolved from a “National” to an “International Trails Symposium” since 2013, as American Trails continues to widen its network with organi- zations and trails worldwide.


The Symposium is continuing to evolve and in 2019 it is now referenced as the International Trails Symposium and Training Institute to highlight the variety of educational sessions offered

at the conference. Also featured is the Professional TrailBuilders Association Sustainable Trails Workshops and Technical Track Series.


These hands-on workshops focus on the important skills and techniques involved in the sustainable design, planning, construction, and mainte- nance of trails for all types of users in all types of environments. Every two years American Trails hosts the Symposium, the world’s pre- mier trail-related learning and network- ing opportunity. As one of the largest gatherings of all trail interests in the world, the Symposium brings our com- bined voices together to strengthen trails for everyone.


The Symposium attracts hundreds


of trail and greenway advocates, man- agers, and planners, as well as those in tourism and business. The Symposium includes numerous educational sessions covering the broad range of trail issues; nationally and internationally promi- nent speakers; a state-of-the-art exhibit hall; informative and interactive mobile workshops; and much more. The indoor facilities and meeting


rooms for the Symposium will be at the Oncenter Convention Center in down- town Syracuse, conveniently located near the host hotels.
