Meet NPM’s New Forum Chairs
Kristen “KiKi” Donahue, Finance & Development Forum Chair
KiKi comes to the Finance & Development Forum with years of experience in the world of higher education as a university business manager and event/program coordinator. She lives with her husband (an organist
and parish music director) and two children outside of Boston, Massachusetts. KiKi currently serves as a cantor, as well as the Communications and Volunteer Coordinator and Children's Choir Director and Cantor at Blessed Trinity Parish in Westford & Littleton, Massachusetts. She serves on her local Cultural Council and is the Director for the Boston Chapter of NPM.
KiKi compares our faith to a fountain in that “there are seasons in life when our faith is at the top of our minds, cascading down for all to see, and there are other times when it is still and quiet…However, like a fountain, our faith is always flowing.” As the Finance & Development Forum Chair, KiKi hopes to find new ways to support
8
NPM’s goals, and she welcomes the opportunity to connect with pastoral musicians from around the country to use their talents outside of music. She is dedicated to working together to help NPM thrive and ensure we are good stewards of the gifts so generously and graciously given by our members.
Karl Pierce, Cultural Diversity Forum Chair
Karl was born in Berkeley, California, and attended the University of California, Davis. He enjoyed a long career with the National Park Service, planning multicultural festivals, managing diversity outreach programs, and
overseeing environmental and cultural education programs. Now retired and residing in Sacramento, Karl attends Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Elk Grove and is a founding member of the “Voices of Praise” Gospel Choir, directed by his mother. Karl plays the steel pan and has sung in many gospel choirs through the years.
Tis issue’s theme, “Fountains of Faith,” evokes for Karl an idyllic garden setting, where many varieties of flowers and plants thrive, each “indispensable, contributing to the health and beauty of the whole.” He compares this image to the Church, where “each culture, language, and musical style contributes to the beauty of our liturgies.” In his new role as Cultural Diversity Forum Chair, Karl will ask questions like, “Who is missing from the table?” and “What new heights might we be able to reach with them?” He says, “Te Lord created each and every one of us, man and woman, in his image, so each of us brings something of beauty and something of value to our Church and our world.”
