the president’s message I
t’s hard to believe that my term as President (and Board Member) is coming to an end. When I look back at the year, I’m met with warm memories, thoughts and ex- citement from what we have worked through and accomplished. When working on the board, or any com- mittee, the question you ask over and over again is “is this what’s best for the Chapter”? I must have asked myself that question a million times to en- sure that our direction was in the best interest of this group I hold so dear.
I am ever thankful to have worked with our AMAZING Executive Di- rector Rachel Selwan, whose efforts went above and beyond her call of duty. I could not have traveled down this road without her and thank her endlessly for her support and assistance. Also, I’ve said this before, but I cannot say enough how lucky I am to have been a part of the current
board, as we have
such a cohesive, warm and energetic group that keeps our Chapter moving full speed ahead. I am absolutely honored to have worked side-by-side with all of you!
When I was elected to serve as President of our chapter, I decided on a theme of Hospitality in order to provide both retention and growth. Hospitality by definition is the friendly and generous reception and entertainment of guests, visitors and strangers. Te key word in Com- munity Association Institute is Community. My vision was to encourage a welcoming organization who offers a warm introduction to any and all new members or attendees in the hopes of further educating the masses. Te hope was to make CAI-CNC synonymous with Hospitality. And we did just that! Due to our ever in- creasing hospitality towards our current members and 1st time guests, our numbers have increased with ex- tremely pleasing statistics! We began the year with 311 chapter members and to-date, we now have 344. Even more pleasing is the fact that 19 of the 33 new mem-
bers are Homeowner Volunteer Leaders. Tis is a tes- tament to our phenomenal Education Committee and Membership Committee and you as members! Our efforts to provide a welcoming educational community for all those people who are a part of community associations certainly show in these numbers. Congratula- tions to you all for a job well done!
I am also extremely proud of our Chapter’s
Legislative Action Com- mittee (LSC) who not only met but exceeded their annual Buck a Door / CLAC goal by 176%. Tank you to the LSC members for their continual support at our Mini-Lobby Days, Corks for CLAC and Buck a Door campaigning. A very special thanks to all of our HOA’s who donated
to Buck a Door. To those who bought raffle tickets at our luncheons and those who donated their time and money to the Corks for CLAC event, thank you! Your contributions do not go unnoticed!
Te above accomplishments are simply amazing. And that’s not all! Truly all of our events including Ladies Tea, Scotch & Cigars, all of the many Community Ser- vice events and the very much anticipated and well at- tended Awards Gala are absolute hits! What can I say? Our chapter comes complete with amazing events put on by even more amazing VOLUNTEERS who give their time, money and energy to ensure that our chap- ter thrives, survives and grows – all while having fun doing it!
We should all take exceptional pride in all we’ve accom- plished in our not-so-little chapter in 2019. And with- out further ado, let’s welcome in 2020 with open arms and possibilities ahead. GO CNC!!!
