Tird Wave of Pandemic Twarts demopark 2021 Just a few weeks after the decision to postpone demopark 2021 to the fall, Germany and many other parts of the world were hit with a third wave of the coronavirus. Europe's largest open-air exhibition for the green sector is taking a break this year due to the pandemic. "In view of the uncertain situation, we decided with a heavy heart not to let demopark 2021 take place," says Dr. Bernd Scherer, demopark trade fair director and managing director of the VDMA agricultural technology industry association. Te decision, which the trade fair advisory board made unanimously, was "currently without any alternative, as the protection of visitors and exhibitors is our highest goal." 14th ITRC Postponed to July 10 -15, 2022
Maria Strandberg, ITS President and STERF director, provided the following information in the 14th ITRC. Te coronavirus situation all over the world does not look very optimistic and we all have to face long-term restrictions regarding traveling, gathering and conferences. According to the Health Directorate of EU, the sanctions and restrictions related to the Corona/ Covid-19 situation will last at least for the next eight months; effects of general vaccination are not expected to be seen until the autumn of 2021. Due to this uncertainty created by the global Covid-19 pandemic, the ITS board made the final decision in December 2020, to postpone the 14th International Turfgrass Research Conference to 2022. ITS board is currently considering the implications of postponing the conference to 2022 in terms of ITS membership etc. and further communication will follow. Te ITRC2021 has been renamed to ITRC2022 and the dates are now set for July 10-15, 2022, as an on-site conference according to the existing plans. Te venue at Copenhagen University and the hotel reservations are rebooked without any extra costs. Te conference organizer CAP Partner has agreed to the postponement. Main sponsors for the conference have been contacted and are all in favor of postponing the conference. Conference program, technical tours, the one-day practitioners´ seminar, and social events will be rearranged and set up in 2022 according to the existing plans. More information at:

Te ‘Standards for International Turfgrass Society Research Journal’ have been revised to make a clearer distinction between ‘Short communications’ and ‘Technical papers.’ Te Standards are accessible at the conference website

NALP’s National Lawn Care Month Toolkit Coloring Book Tough the April is … National Lawn Care Month promotion has ended, much from that campaign to educate the public about the benefits of healthy lawns can be used year-round. In 2021, NALP, the developer and promoter of the initial idea, focused their efforts on the ways that lawns and landscapes help fight climate change. With TPI and TLI both industry partners in this promotion, TPI members have access to the free resources in the NALP National Lawn Care Month Toolkit. You may want to download one of those resources, a coloring book handout, to share with the young family members of your residential customers and with the youth groups that come for tours of your sod farm.
