facts in an easy-to-understand man- ner. Find and/or create graphic ele- ments or use photos that support but don’t detract from the intended mes- sage. Use numbers, original graphics, stock images, clip art, Photoshopped images, or any combination to com- municate information with limited text and/or data. (Be sure to secure permission if using materials devel- oped and copyrighted by others.) Determine if the infographic will be vertical, horizontal or available for sharing in both formats. The creative process is a balancing act between images and words where you are try- ing to generate interest.


STEP 4 EDIT: Once the initial layout is complete review each element and check everything from font selection to size of text; choice of headings and


subheads; visual continuity and flow of contents.


STEP 5 REVIEW: After the info- graphic is complete, secure input from others to ensure information is clear, precise, informative and visually appealing. Use the feedback to make changes, then the infographic is ready to be shared.


TLI plans to create a series of info- graphics throughout the year. The next scheduled infographic will present the HUMAN HEALTH BENEFITS of turfgrass and is scheduled for release in mid-January. Other subjects current- ly under consideration, in no particu- lar order, include:


• Air temperature and air quality • Soil retention and quality


• Wildlife benefits • Safety benefits • Economic benefits • Industry employment stats • Grass filtration • Groundwater recharge and filtering • Oxygen production • Reduced storm water runoff • Improved mental and physical health • Increases property values
