HONORS AND AWARDS

Section Leadership Awards

Arizona

Jim has been the backbone of the California Section since the 1990s. I have worked with him as an officer of the California Section of the AIPG for many years, and have witnessed his dedication and hard work for the Section first-hand. He has provided leadership as President or Vice President of the California Section for two decades. As a mentor to students, he founded and is the sponsor for the University of California, Davis AIPG Student Chapter in 2010 and the Sonoma State University AIPG Student Chapter in 2016. Jim has been instrumental in bringing and organizing the National Meeting to Sacramento this year. His tireless dedication to the California Section merits recognition.

Nomination by Dave Sadoff, CPG- 09933. Richard Brose

CPG-07549 Flagstaff, Arizona

Richard has been exemplary in lead-

ing and guiding the Northern Arizona University (NAU) student chapter since about 2017.

Through his unselfish guidance,

Richard has energized the students in the chapter to be active with field trips, regular meetings, and a significant water quality project that benefits the local community. Without his leader- ship, the NAU chapter would likely struggle, so this leadership award is very deserved.

Nomination by Doug Bartlett, CPG- 08433. California Colorado

William’s service to the Colorado

Section on the Executive Committee, Field Trip Leader, and Faculty Sponsor for a Student Chapter are the reasons for his recognition for section leadership.

He has served on the Colorado Section Executive Committee as Secretary and Advisory Board member. William has been very active as Faculty Sponsor over several years for the Univ. Northern Colorado Student Chapter up until his retirement from UNC. He is the key person on promotion of student par- ticipation and activities in the Colorado Section and AIPG. William has also served as a field trip leader for the sec- tion.

Graham Closs, Ph.D.

CPG-07288 Lakewood, Colorado

Graham is being nominated for his long-term service to the Colorado Section in multiple offices and (former) Colorado School of Mines Student Chapter.

He has served in multiple roles on the Colorado Section Executive Committee, including President-Elect, President, and Secretary. Graham’s Advisory Board Service as Chapter Faculty Sponsor over several years for the (former) Colorado School of Mines Student Chapter up until his retirement from CSM is greatly appreciated. He promotes student par- ticipation and activities in AIPG and has contributed to many other section activities.
