Ahoy, mateys! The fairways were transformed into the high seas on October 20, 2025 as the annual CAI Golf Tournament “Pirates Classic” took over the greens at Arroyo Trabuco Golf Course. With eye patches, parrots, and plenty of pirate puns, this swashbuckling spectacle was a treasure trove of fun, camaraderie, and competitive spirit.
Setting Sail on the Greens
From the moment players arrived, it was clear this wasn’t your average golf outing. Teams donned full pirate regalia. Eye patches and scarves were everywhere, and even the occasional hook hand, while carts were decked out in style! The course itself was transformed with themed holes, a giant octopus, a sunken ship, and more.
Highlights from the High Seas
• Longest Drive: First Mate Renee “Cannonball” Romero and Nicholas Baratta launched drives that would’ve made Blackbeard proud.
• Closest to the Treasure (Pin): On the
infamous “Dead Man’s Drop”, Jeff “Silver Swing” Beardsley landed his ball just .25 inches from the cup, earning him a golden doubloon trophy.
• Hole-in-One Rumor: Word spread like wildfi re that someone aced Hole 13, but as any pirate knows, legends are part of the lore. No video proof, but plenty of tales!
Feast & Festivities After the fi nal putt was sunk, players gathered at the “Captain’s Quarters” clubhouse for a taco feast fi t for a fl eet.
Raffl e Prize Winners Have Been Crowned! From golden gift cards to swanky swag bags, our lucky buccaneers walked away with treasures fi t for a captain!
So, until next time, keep your compass pointed toward the green, and may your drives be long and your putts true. Yo ho ho and a hole-in-one!
