WINNING ENTRY { ARCHITECTURE } PRIMARY CRUSHER BUILDING by Dr. Brian Fischer, Slater


THE “ARCHITECTURE” CATEGORY HAD 11 ENTRIES. The category images depict images that display architecture: details, exteriors and interiors. Dr. Fischer (General Practice, University of Illinois, Chicago 04) took this image at the Missouri Mines State Historic Site at St. Joe State Park (Park Hills) in July 2021. “This building immediately caught my attention with the angular, imposing steel structure on top,”


said Dr. Fischer. “I also was drawn to the combination of rusty metal and broken windows in the same image as flowers, foliage and a beautiful sky. To me it is a large reminder of the ways we have impacted our environment and the resilience of nature.” Dr. Fischer also won two honorable mentions in this year’s contest.
