2015 Recreational Trails Program Annual Report The most recent report on the Recre-


ational Trails Program (RTP) provides a useful guide to the program for trail  funding and administration, the RTP Database, and how States use funds  project types along with award-win- ning examples from across the country. The report also documents the many   Tables show the RTP funding autho- rized by Congress for use by States each year of the program. Totals for each  the funds available for trail grants in the most recent year. A notable fact is that more than 20,000 projects have received over $1 billion in RTP funding, which  from other sources.

Accessible trails to beaches and waterfronts


Our newest photo gallery docu- ments examples of accessible routes  and other unstable surfaces are the typical challenges in providing better access to water attractions. A variety of solutions have been used to improve the surface and provide barrier-free routes. These examples show ways of bringing people closer to the water in beach and bay-front situations. Vari- ous types of boardwalks and paving are used to enable access by people us- ing wheelchairs, walkers, and strollers.
