T


he ZIPS at SIU-SDM have been busy this semester. Te new aca-


demic year was “nothing but gold” for the SIU-SDM ZIPS. It started out by having RUSH week with the theme “Go for the Gold with the ZIPS.” Te opening ceremonies consisted of a cookout with games that followed. Ultimately, there were sixteen D-1 students who took home the GOLD by joining XI PSI PHI fraternity. Te new SIU-ZIP members include: Rachel Bayles, Brady Hails, Cole- man Choate, Michelle Hickey, Brent Crenshaw, Daniel Jurgens, Katelyn Genebacher, Alexis Lintker, Emily Gerber, Joey Marsek, Ryann Gil- ley, Rachel Ramsay, Maya Habibi, Dave Tielen, Tara Habibi and Claire Willenborg. Once the “ZIP-lympics” were over,


it was time to move onto the bi- annual ZIP open at Cloverleaf Golf Course in Alton, IL. Te teams par- ticipated in a nine-hole scramble with current ZIP dental students as well as a few ZIP Alumni. Te scramble was filled with friendly competition and plenty of Jell-O shots to ensure every- one thought they were Arnold Palmer on the course.

With the holidays in sight, the


SIU fraternity members wanted to host a food drive for the Alton Crisis Center (local food pantry). Te food drive kicked off at a local bar where students could bring in canned goods to receive a drink sponsored by the SIU-ZIPS. Food drop off bins were placed around campus to ensure that donations continued until Tanks- giving break. Te SIU ZIPS donated a surplus of food to the Alton Crisis

Center for those in need around the holidays. Right before break, the ZIPs held a Tanksgiving dinner for all mem- bers. Everyone feasted on turkey, mashed potatoes, rolls, green beans and plenty of pies. ZIP members got together and enjoyed a meal one last time before before everyone went back to their families for the holiday. With only two more weeks of school this semester the ZIPS are planning a
