He is a nationally known educator, trainer and educator, a Past President of CAI, and presently is on the Board of Directors for the Foundation for Community Association Research.


Patrick McDonald


is a partner at Pody & McDonald, PLLC, which almost exclusively represents community associations in Washington state as general counsel and in collection matters. Patrick earned his law degree from the Seattle University School of Law and his undergraduate degree from the University of Portland. An active WSCAI volunteer, Patrick is a regular speaker at industry seminars and contributor to the Community Associations Journal. He co-authored “Things are Looking Up:

is an attorney and managing shareholder at the law firm of Leahy McLean Fjelstad and a member of the College of Community Association Lawyers. He concentrates his practice in the area of community association law and speaks and writes frequently about community associations. Brian serves as co-chair of WSCAI’s Legislative Action Committee (LAC) and served previously as a board member and president of the Washington State Chapter of CAI. His law firm hosts the annual


“There Might Be Noise” fundraiser for CAI where his guitar performance lies somewhere between Joe Pass and a hurdy-gurdy monkey playing finger cymbals. Brian brings us the Legislative Update and discusses trends based on the 2013 Community Association Fact Book.


Dean Pody


graduated from the Seattle University School of Law in 1997. Since 2001 he has almost exclusively represented condominium and homeowner associations. Prior to that time, he primarily represented bankruptcy debtors. He served on the Board of Directors of the WSCAI from 2007 to 2010 and served as Chapter President in 2009. In this issue, he discusses collections in a recovering economy with Patrick McDonald.
