During the 2000 and 2010 censuses, community association managers received many calls from board  reporting that a “census person” was seeking to get onto the property or into the building to interview somebody, or to ask questions about a current or former resident, or to determine if a unit was vacant. Often, the inclination was to deny them access for privacy or security reasons. This response was and is 


These obstacles to obtaining as complete a count as possible are wasteful, costing the taxpayers unnecessarily, as the census takers end up having to make sometimes multiple trips to obtain the needed information. Cooperative homeowners and managers    by phone, or by mail as soon as you receive your invitation to participate.
