Gayle Cagianut, CPA has been a leader in the community associations industry for almost 30 years. Cagianut & Co. now works with almost 800 associations in Washington and Idaho performing audits and tax returns. These associations range in size and complexity. These clients are served by our staff of 19, who also understand


the uniqueness of this industry. Gayle updates us on federal tax law changes in this issue.


Robb Dibble, PE is the Owner and Principal of Dibble Engineers, Inc., which provides Structural Engineering design to clients across 16 states. The firm works extensively with multi-family projects while supporting HOA’s needs for repairs, retrofits and upgrades. Robb provides technical expert services for a


large array of structural-related forensic investigations, construction defect, and voluntary lateral upgrades to HOA buildings undergoing going a recladding project. Robb’s favorite projects are those that require creative solutions to existing challenges. He collaborates with Melissa White and George Singer to discuss considerations when planning a rooftop deck addition in this issue.


Rob Guyott, Jr., CMCA


is a Community Association Manager at HOAMCO and the Operations Director for Trilogy at Redmond Ridge.


Rob has managed community


associations for nearly a decade and has been in multi-family property management since 2002. His article discusses making resolutions in this


issue. Rob loves the outdoors, his dog, and his lovely bride-to-be. If Rob is not at work you may find him grooming his beard, standing in a river with a fly rod, setting up a tent or enjoying a relaxing evening kitchen-dancing with aforementioned babe.


Jennifer Hill, Esq.


is an associate attorney in the Community Associations department of Hanis Irvine Prothero PLLC. Since 2010, Jennifer’s practice has focused exclusively on representation of condominium and homeowner associations, assisting with both general counsel and assessment collection matters. In this issue,


she discusses why, when and how Boards of Directors can use executive session to handle sensitive topics during regular Board meetings.


Brian P. McLean, CCAL


is the president of Agynbyte LLC, a condominium and homeowner association management company. Agynbyte LLC follows Brian’s two-decade career as an attorney of community association law. He received his law and undergraduate degrees from Seattle University, where he was a member of


Law Review, chair of the law school’s Moot Court Board, and commencement speaker for his graduating class. His article discusses “Free Speech and Owner Associations” in this issue.


Valerie Farris Oman, Esq.


is a partner attorney. She represents and assists community associations on collections matters along with general counsel and governance issues. She contributes the article “Collections Do’s and Don’ts and Best Practices.” Valerie is passionate about providing high quality legal services to our


clients. Valerie graduated cum laude from Seattle University School of Law (2005). Prior to joining Condominium Law Group in 2009, Valerie’s practice included small business law, estate planning, and civil litigation.


George H. Singer, Architect


has been an Associate with The Soltner Group Architects for the previous 22 years. Over this time period he has been involved in the analysis, repair, and remodel of over 150 projects, the vast majority of which are condominium communities. He is co-author of the article “What to Consider when


Planning a Rooftop Deck Addition.”


Melissa White, PE is a Senior Project Manager at Dibble Engineers, Inc. in Kirkland, WA. Melissa has more than ten years’ of structural engineering experience, focused primarily on providing evaluation, retrofit, and repair design for existing buildings. Melissa works closely with architects, contractors, and


homeowners associations to develop structural solutions. She enjoys facing the ethical balance between new construction, environment, preservation, and housing needs, but prefers to spend her free time in the wilderness with her family and dog. Melissa co-authored the article about the roof-top deck additions.
