 end of the second week, and we had planned on taking our three little girls with us the whole time. But after talking to anyone who’s ever been there with kids, we actually were convinced to leave them home. They said that I would never see them anyway and it won’t be any fun for 2 and 3 year olds to spend two weeks in Vegas. We’ll see how it goes because I’m not that good at being away from them, but we have a really good baby sitter that  last few days.”

As those NFR dreams and goals are coming true for them, they are also becoming reality for the other NFR rookie barrel racers including: Kelly Bruner, Tracy Nowlin, Jessie Telford, and Carman Pozzobon. As is noted every year this will be a fun barrel race to watch, so don’t

miss it!

over again, this time plowing through the four-person Finals in each event. It’s fast paced, giving the ladies little time to catch their breath   mare.

“I take a long warm up but then I like to get off for a bit before I run.

“I was just hanging out and then they started calling my name! I had to hurry with the bands and I was tightening my belt as I went into the alley,” she notes, adding that a miscommunication with the daysheets had led to the confusion.

Despite the hurried start, Conrado put up another sub-sixteen on the

Conrado picked up a new saddle as well as $12,679 in earnings, money that all counts towards the 2019 season. She’ll head next to the Ram Mountain States Circuit Finals Rodeo and maybe one or two other events before the Wrangler NFR kicks off in December. “I wish it was next week,” laughs Conrado. “When they’re hot, they’re hot!” Making the All American win that much more special is the fact that Nichols and Barron call Waco their hometown and were in attendance to watch their mare shine.

“They were jacked!” notes Conrado, who is sponsored by Wrangler, Renew Gold, HorseWare Ireland, CSI, 12 Gauge Ranch, Platinum, Zesterra, Techmix, and Equicare. “I want to really thank them.” Conrado says her bond with the mare has increased greatly since she  “When I got her, she was already a good horse. When I get a new one, I always try to ride them how they say. I was trying to get with her last year and I was on the bubble [to make the Wrangler NFR] so I was in a hurry. Plus, I had two other mares I was running so I was separating my time between them.”

“They’re like kids especially since they’re mares . . . they’re needy,” Conrado jokes. “I just didn’t get to spend the time I needed to with her.   a science.” “Last year, she didn’t fully trust me,” Conrado admits. “Now, she chases me around to get scratched.” “She’s just done phenomenal,” adds Conrado, tipping her hat to the fact that the majority of her nearly $100,000 in earnings came between mid-July and early September. As for the Reserve honors for Horse of the Year, “it surprised me. Not surprised exactly because I think she’s awesome but it’s cool that others thought so too.” Conrado, who previously rode the 2016 AQHA/WPRA Horse of the

Year CFour Tibbie Stinson, appreciates the ride she’s been on since JLo came into her life and the chance to run two, top three Horses of the Year in three seasons. “You never know how many special ones you’re going to get,” she says. “So I really appreciate JLo.”
