Oklahoma City and have remained partners to this day. Mike said he and Bell actually go way back. “I’ve known Mike since our junior high
days at Hefner Junior High and then on to Putnam City High School,” Mike said. “We were in the same fraternity at OU and both ended up accepting jobs with Arthur Young.”
Te couple have three children, two of which graduated from the University of Oklahoma. “So I have to be nice,” Carol said.
Making it work seems to work well for the couple, who found themselves on national TV because of their rivalry. “We were at a Bedlam basketball game
in Norman about 10 years ago,” Mike said. “Tere was about a minute or so left in the game. OU was winning, but OSU was closing in fast. During a timeout, Carol and I were both standing up—she in her orange and me in my red. Neither one of us were smiling. Te cameras found us and Brent Musburger said, ‘Folks, that is Bedlam in Oklahoma!’ Tat was our five seconds of fame.”
Tey may not have been smiling at the time, but Carol says the two have always been quite happy, a sentiment Mike clearly echoes. “Mike and I have made it through almost 39 years without a big falling out over the Sooners and the Cowboys, so I

guess we will continue to keep the peace,” she said.
“I tend to get pretty loud during
Bedlam, especially during football and basketball,” Mike said. “So when I start yelling at the TV and jumping around the living room, she just looks at me, I think with pity. “Someone has to be the grownup in the
relationship, and, fortunately for me, God chose her.”
