CASEY SANDERSON CPA


College students dream of finding their perfect job after graduation. Tis was no exception for an Oklahoma Christian University alumnus who has spent his entire professional career at BKD CPAs & Advisors in Oklahoma City. Casey Sanderson, CPA, said, “One of


the joys of public accounting is working with individuals new to their career and helping them find a path, whether that be at BKD or elsewhere. As is the nature of public accounting, some of those individuals have gone on to other jobs, but I find a lot of pride in seeing what they’ve done.” Sanderson found his path at BKD when he asked to be involved with a financial services client so he could learn more. Now, he is the senior manager on the engagement. Brian West, a partner at BKD CPAs &


Advisors and 2015 Trailblazer, said, “Casey was promoted to senior manager at the earliest timeframe and has been a top performer not only in Oklahoma, but nationally. He has helped on several national projects for the firm and is a thought leader in our south region banking group, including serving on a national task force on internal controls over financial reporting for SEC audits. Tough his accomplishments have been


recognized with BKD’s PRIDE (Passion, Respect, Integrity, Discipline and Excellence) Award, a peer-nominated honor for those exemplifying the firm’s values, Sanderson said he has gained a new perspective on life that has made him a better person through raising his son.


“I’ve had a drastic shift in how I view flexibility and work/life balance and have made it my mission to try to be an example to others in my office who want to see how to make public accounting and parenting work,” he explained. “I believe I am more purposeful with my relationships and my time.”


What is your favorite podcast and why? “Revisionist History” by Malcolm Gladwell; Malcolm has an amazing ability to take a subject I either don’t know anything about or is somewhat ordinary and make it fascinating.


What food do you just hate? Anything slimy, including gum
