CGMA, has been elected to serve a three-year term as Chairman of the John T Steed


School of Accounting Board of Advisors, the University of Oklahoma Price College of Business. Brockhaus is the managing partner of Peters & Chandler, P.C., Oklahoma City. He is a past chairman of the Oklahoma Society of CPAs and a 2017 inductee in the Oklahoma Accounting Hall of Fame.


Tom Sheets, CPA, was


awarded the 2019 Trustee of the Year Award by Leading Age Oklahoma at the 24th annual


Leading Age Awards Program. Sheets was recognized for his service on the board of trustees of Te Commons, a nonprofit continuing care retirement community in Enid, Oklahoma. He has been a member of OSCPA for 39 years and has served on the Continuing Professional Education Committee.

Society News Te OSCPA recognized


top CPA exam performers at the New CPA Ceremony. Asher Brown and Lucas Goodspeed were both honored with the Silver Medal. Te Silver Medal is presented to candidates with the highest score on all four exam sections within two consecutive windows.


Brown, who earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Oklahoma in Norman, won the Silver Medal award for having the highest score in windows III and IV of the 2018 exam. He is an audit associate for Grant Tornton in Oklahoma City. He is also an Elijah Watt Sells Award winner, a national recognition given by the American Institute of Certified Professional Accountants. Goodspeed, who earned his bachelor’s degree from Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas, won the Silver Medal award for having the highest score in window IV of the 2018 exam

Foundation, the CPA & advisory firm’s charitable arm,


contributed $88,000 to Oklahoma-based charities last year. Each BKD office has its own Foundation Advisory Committee responsible for reviewing and voting on funding requests submitted by BKD employees that have a passion for a mission. Te BKD Foundation has donated approximately $755,000 since inception.
