Epoxy Lining


Epoxy lining is the least intrusive option and is chloramine-resistant. Te epoxy used is a two-part resin that is NSF/ ANSI 61 approved for use with drink- ing water. In most cases the work can be completed in one day unless drywall re- pairs are needed. Te lining process has four main steps and starts with draining the water out of the existing plumbing system. Warm air is run through the pipes to dry and harden any residue or buildup in the system. Te system is then cleaned with a mild abrasive to prepare for the final step of applying the epoxy to line the pipes.


Te typical warranty is 10 years (though some companies offer longer) and covers repair of the pipe in the event the coat- ing fails. Te cost of the epoxy solution is very comparable to a PEX re-pipe and can be roughly half the cost of a copper or Aquatherm re-pipe.
