THE DIGITAL DARKROOM CATEGORY FEATURED 10 ENTRIES and included photos converted into art through “digital darkroom” alteration with software. This photo was taken last October at the St. Louis Zoo, which had just decorated for Halloween. “It was one of the first pictures I took that day,” said Dr. Vreeland. “We arrived early with our grandkids and the lighting was good.” The photo was edited in Photoshop Elements 7, with everything turned to black and white except for the pumpkin. Cropping was done in Lightroom 4. Dr. Vreeland says his favorite photographic tool has to be his camera. “The Canon 6D is amazing, with so many features that allow you to create.” He says the locations on his photo bucket list are Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon, both in Utah.
