This was taken in my backyard in September. These flowers were set up close to my hummingbird feeders.

University 1989) is a general dentist in Hermann. He has pursued various photographic interests over the years since


acquiring his first Nikon camera in 1981. No longer having children playing high school sports, he decided to concentrate on wildlife photography and birds in particular.

FAIRY BASSLET DR. STEPHEN BRUMIT LEE’S SUMMIT


This is seabass’s little cousin and was taken in Bonaire at a dive site called “Small Wall” in May 2018. The fish is 2.5 inches long, has a lovely purple front and a bright yellow posterior. A very shy species, this by far is the best photo I’ve ever taken of it. This one swam right off the wall and up at me—normally they retreat quickly upon my approach. It must have been mating season.


Dr. Brumit (UMKC 1985, University of Maryland Baltimore College of Dental Surgery 1992) is an endodontist who practices in Lee’s Summit.
