WINNING ENTRY { OPEN } PROTESTED PIER by Dr. Sainy Adel, Lee’s Summit
THE OPEN CATEGORY, NEW IN 2020, HAD 15 ENTRIES. It allowed members to submit images that, in particular, didn’t fit any other category. Dr. Adel also won the Outdoors Category and was featured on the January/ February (Issue 1) cover. He said of this image, “After our first day of exploring the beauty of the Chilean Patagonia, I was exploring the small town of Puerto Natales, when I spotted
the remains of what appeared to be a pier. One of the locals in the area told me it was burned during a worker strike in the early 1900s. I did my best to center the charred wooden beams as if it were a trail leading to the distant snow-capped mountains lining the horizon. Dr. Adel (UMKC 19) practices in Lee’s Summit at Flucke & Associates.
