When we think of the phrase “CrossTown Classic”, what comes to mind often is an on-going battle of wins and losses on the baseball field between the Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox; two teams with a strong and fiercely loyal fan base. Every season, the Cubs and Sox play a series of games in each of their respective ball parks. The rivalry between the fan base of the two teams dates back over a hundred years, however the formal modern-day dual started June 16, 2007 when the Cubs won the first game 8-3 on the south side. Since then, there have been a total of 122 meetings (as of this writing) with the White Sox having a slight edge of 62-60 wins. To the fans, particularly those with the highest level of passion for their team, the CrossTown Classic is the most important series of the year save for the playoffs. A series victory allows for bragging rights that can last all winter and into the spring training season. However, if you have ever watched an interview with any of the players from either team, they tend to view the match-up each year as just another set of games in a long season. While the games provide entertainment for the fans, the players are focused on what’s truly important: individual and team success.

In a region as large as the Chicagoland area, with a vast amount of community associations of all shapes and sizes, the term “CrossTown Classic” could easily be applied to managers of residential properties. We are fortunate to have a diverse array of condominiums,

townhomes, single-family and cooperative communities across the city and suburbs. But talk with most any property manager and they will tell you that while there are some common themes associated with managing residential properties, there are distinct differences
