2021 ABGA/JABGA NATIONAL SHOWS ‘Friends Reunited!’


After the American Boer Goat Association and Junior ABGA National Shows were cancelled last year due to the Covid-19 pan- demic, exhibitors were more than happy to be back in Grand Island, Neb., for the Nationals held June 12-18. In fact, the theme of the 2011 national show was “Friends Re-


united”, said ABGA executive director Katie Carruth. Judges for the National Open were Kurt Henry, Jason Brashear and Phil Myers. Junior National Open judges were Bailey Bergherm and Jeremy Church. Junior Bred & Owned and Showmanship judge was Larry Epting and Junior Market judge was Nick Hammet. “It was a treat to see so many of our members joyfully come together again!” she said. “We are so pleased to have had a success- ful, safe, and enjoyable show and are super impressed with the quality of Boer goats our members are breeding and raising.” She was especially pleased with the number of youth exhibitors who came to the Nationals this year.


“This industry has a bright and beautiful future with the many Junior Members who are participating,” she said. Carruth is already making big plans for next year’s national show


— although it’s uncertain at this time where the show will be held. “We are very excited to announce with the support of numerous sponsors, but spurred by Backyard Green Films, our first Perform- ance Quality Challenge: a slaughter evaluation class with carcass contest at the 2022 show,” she said.
