B d Di t ON THE COVER GtRhtGoat Rancher magazine has ai h
new owner. Founder and editor Terry Hankins made the announce- ment in July that his daughter, Lindley Hankins Daniel, had pur- chased 100 percent of the stock of Goat Rancher LLC, which pub- lishes the magazine. Terry will re- main as editor for the foreseeable future. Lindley will assume the title of managing editor and will run the day-to- day operations of the maga- zine. Financial terms of the
sale were not disclosed.
Terry, who launched the magazine in May 1996, had a 20-year career in the newspaper business before starting the magazine, which is located on Egypt Creek Ranch in north- west Mississippi. Lindley grew up on the goat ranch and most recently worked in the marketing department of Sam’s Town casino. Lindley is also the former registrar for the American Savanna Registry.
“I’m not quite ready to retire yet,” Terry said, “but I wanted to make sure the magazine would be in good hands when I do get ready to slow down. Lindley knows the magazine and she knows goats, so this was a perfect fit.” “I’ve grown up with the goats and with Goat Rancher so it feels natural for me to step into the family business,” Lindley said. “I’ve helped out in the office off and on since I was in high school.” A photo of Lindley and a baby Boer goat was on the cover of the first issue of Goat Rancher when she was 6 years old. Lindley lives on Egypt Creek Ranch in the farmhouse where Terry grew up. She is the mother of two — Lane, 9, and Oak- lyn, 3.
