A New Chapter for AGC of California S

ince 1920, AGC of California

has been the uniting and driving force for the construction industry. Trough our efforts to bring a powerful collective voice,

we have taken control of our future and worked to enhance our industry’s opportunities. As we look to our centennial celebration in 2020, we have the opportunity to celebrate a legacy of success and impact for our industry and for our state. For the past 23 years, we have

been fortunate to have a man who was committed to our association and to our industry’s success. Not many people bleed “AGC,” but Tom Holsman is a rare breed who committed his professional life to our industry and to our important

association. We as an industry owe Tom a “thank you” for his years of service and dedication. I have personally benefited from his insights and mentorship as I have transitioned to the CEO role. I know we all wish Tom the best in his retirement and future endeavors. As we all begin a new chapter here

Centennial and the next 100 years of this organization. We are fortunate as an industry to know that we are guaranteed a future, but that future is not one without change and most certainly not one without challenges. When we look to the future, there are constants that our industry will face: financial conditions, regulations, legislative actions, evolving technology, and a need for a qualified workforce. Individually we will fail to influence the necessary outcomes to create the right opportunities, but together, as history precedes us, we can influence the future. I am excited to be here at AGC of

California to work for an industry that has the unique benefit of having both tangible and intangible accomplishments. Not many professions have the ability to literally point to their work product. My passion is to help create opportunities for this industry. When we work to create the right opportunities for our industry, you win. We know that means some tough conversations, but together, our voice will be stronger and have the ability to rise above the noise. Selfishly, my passion to support this industry stems from a desire to give my children (and future grandchildren) the ability to choose California. Our industry builds futures, and supporting your ability to do the work you do so well, creates opportunities for all future generations of Californians. Our collective purpose: To build the

greatest California. No industry can do this better than ours, and no contractors can do it better than AGC of California’s members. We stand ready with you to look forward and to address the needs and to tackle the barriers that face our industry. We will march through our first one hundred years right into our second century eager to take on the challenge. By creating a greater collective “Voice”

behind our services, we will build the greatest California.
