R

ecycling yards are about to get a lot more friendly with each other, digitally-speaking, thanks to Hollander’s latest version of its yard management and inventory

solution. Hollander’s release of Powerlink version 3.0 marked a significant milestone for the product, and version 3.2 ushers in addi- tional improvements to the solution, most notably the yard-to-yard functionality.

Hollander’s Powerlink Makes the World A Little Smaller with Yard-to-Yard Selling

Powerlink has always enabled users to search for parts across the entire EDEN database or within their exchange partners inventory. With Powerlink 3.2 users will now be able to order an EDEN or exchange part from another yard without having to pick up the phone. EDEN and Exchange parts that are available for Yard to Yard (Y2Y) purchase will be displayed in search results with the Y2Y indicator. When one of these parts is placed on a Purchase Order (PO), the user will be able to order the part from the other yard from within the PO window. When a part is ordered, a Work Order is automatically created on the selling yards Powerlink system. The Y2Y functionality is also configurable so that a yard can select the EDEN yards that they would like to do business with using Y2Y. By automating the order creation process for both the buyer and seller, the Y2Y functionality saves users valu- able time to focus on other tasks. And speaking of users, Production Manager’s integra- tion with Powerlink has been enhanced allowing users to view important communications. The key Powerlink order and line item notes fields have been integrated into Production Manager with the release of Powerlink 3.2. Additionally, the widely used “ship via” field has been incorporated into the job creation process eliminating the need of a sales person to add the shipping logistics infor- mation in Production Manager.

Another noteworthy upgrade for 3.2 is the ability to share images of parts. A wealth of consumer research sug- gests that images greatly enhance motivation to buy by providing more detail to the buyer. As users add images

to parts, the image is copied to the cloud where a URL is created and then stored back in the Powerlink database. Users of 3.2 can now copy the image URLs for parts from the Powerlink image gallery and paste the hyperlinks for these URLs into an email being sent to a potential buyer. Hollander’s exclusive partnership with eBay Motors has expanded the ability of a seller to sell more parts. Key benefits of the partnership include a free basic store sub- scriptions, Hollander generated titles, free sub titles, and a dedicated team of eBay specialists. And what makes this partnership powerful is the integration between eLink and Powerlink. Users can list parts on the ecommerce site using information that has been automatically inte- grated into eLink from the Powerlink and Eden systems. A key feature is sold items will automatically generate a Powerlink order and remove the sold inventory from the system! This allows a seller to more quickly fulfill the customer request. The time and effort saved, when you consider the thousands of parts in any single inventory, is quite a thing to imagine.

Hollander is out to change the experience of man- aging and selling recycled parts – that’s clear. By intro- ducing efficiency and automation into the workflow, it’s drastically reduced the manual work required to run a top-notch shop, allowing the professionals who rely on its solutions to build their inventory, do more business, and connect with more shops across the global recycling network.
