SCENE ON SCREEN STEVE ABRAMS

A Plethora of Puppetry Online B

oundaries and divisions, such as east and west or local, national, and international, seem to have less meaning at a time when most of the performing arts are seen on a screen at home. There are puppetry performances and workshops, festi- vals, and puppet slams, free or for a small fee, on YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook, Zoom, and individual websites (and sometimes on multiple platforms). Beyond the world of puppetry performances of plays, Broadway shows, hip-hop, jazz, ballet, comic parodies, opera, and virtual museum visits are all vying for attention and donations.

Some of the many offerings are listed at the Puppeteers of America

website. https://www.puppeteers.org/internet-puppetry-events and check Puppet Happenings. http://hensonfoundation.org/ Every puppeteer and arts organization is struggling to keep the art form alive. It is impossible to keep track of and list all the on- screen puppetry. What follows is a random sampling.
