cowboy hat of choice for Taylor to set her Miss Rodeo America crown at the moment is the Haden. If she wants to add a pop of color, her two quick picks are her cherry red and turquoise. Outside of the arena, Miss Rodeo America helps set the trends for western fashion through her own creative processes with top name designers and brands. When it comes to high end fashion, “Julie Ewing is number one in my heart,” says Taylor, who can recall as a young girl that she always said that IF she were to go on the Miss Rodeo America stage she was going to wear Julie Ewing. She couldn’t let 12 year-old Taylor down so, while preparing for the Miss Rodeo America pageant, Taylor asked Julie to create her a fashion- forward outfit. She also purchased a used elegance gown and another fashion-forward outfit that were both designed by Julie Ewing—and went on to be crowned Miss Rodeo America in that very elegance gown! You’ll be able to see more of Taylor’s collaborations with Julie Ewing at the 2019 Miss Rodeo America Pageant where Taylor will be playing host to over 25 young women from across the United State vying to be the 2020 Miss Rodeo America. Taylor’s only hint is “This year she did my coronation and fashion show outfits again! They are amazing and she really out did herself!” You’ll have to attend to see them in person! “Rodeo fashion is at the foremost of fashion, and trends keep getting closer and closer to what is considered the modern style, but we are able to keep putting our western spin on it,” says Taylor about what she considers to be coming down the fashion pipeline. “It’s exciting to see how everyone’s western style is different, and it’s cool to see how everyone portrays western fashion their own way.”

When it comes to western fashion, Taylor believes that you can embrace your individuality and make it your own. Taylor will be entering the world of lobbying and agricultural advocacy in the next few years as she works through law school. Not only will she have the voice that she has gained and used for the past year, traveling over 100,000 miles, breaking walls as the first Miss Rodeo America invited to the legendary Pendleton Round Up, and discussing agricultural and ranching issues in different parts of the world, but she’ll have a western lifestyle networking community unparalleled to many others starting in her future field of work.

Signing all her emails “With Gratitude,” Taylor

McNair will continue to be the voice of the western way of life in the world of policy and advocacy, and she’ll be doing it with her own modern twist on classic fashion, lots of rings, and the perfect pair of hoops.

Thank you for your year, Miss Taylor McNair. WESTERN RUNWAY 59
