It’s all hands on deck to carry on with the necessary tasks of haying, checking cows, moving cattle, and fixing fence. Fall ranch tasks include bringing the cows down off the summer mountain grazing, weaning calves, and preparing for calving, which begins in December. This December is extra-special because it is the month that Baby Girl Knowles is due to arrive. A much-needed ray of sunshine during a dark season in Jena and Trevor’s lives, this baby is an answer to prayer in more ways than one. After learning in May that she was expecting, Jena began preparing her heart and mind for the new journey of motherhood. She charmed the Western industry with her easy-going attitude, classy style, and witty sense of humor. Now, she is navigating her next great adventure, becoming a mama, with the authenticity, grace, and grit that has become her trademark. While the power-couple usually spends

Jena in an outfit she would be wearing at the NFR. “It was September or October when she asked me for this picture, and I was shocked,” Jena said. “I was like, ‘Ah what?! I’m supposed to have my NFR outfits picked out months in advance?’ I was planning on figuring it out the week before we left for Vegas.”

In a bit of a panic, Jena ran to TJ Maxx, quickly

picked out an outfit, snapped a photo, and sent it to Tiffany.

“It was really funny when the article came out because all of these other women sent in beautiful professional photos, and Tiffany had to cut me out of the background of my picture because I was just standing in front of a door,” Jena said with a laugh. After her somewhat stressful introduction to NFR fashion, Jena was determined to have fun with the fashion element of rodeo life. She became more interested in western style, paying attention

“It took a lot of experimenting for me to find my style. I tried a lot of ideas and sometimes it worked, and sometimes it didn’t. I finally feel like I'm in a place where I know what my style is."

the first part of each December in Las Vegas, they are looking forward to taking it easy this year and waiting for the arrival of their little girl. “I’ll be watching the NFR while eating ice cream

in Trevor’s sweats because I don’t think mine will fit by that time,” Jena said with a laugh. This spunky cowgirl’s “get ready for baby” list

is a little different that most expecting mamas: 1) prepare the nursery, 2) hike a mountain and fill her elk tag, and 3) pack the freezer with fresh elk and venison. Jena began hunting around the age of 12, and it’s a passion she and Trevor hope to pass on to their children. “Trevor and I love to hunt, and we have great

stories from hunting trips and adventures. I’m not sure how quickly I’ll be able to hike up to the top of the mountain this year, but I’m dang sure going to try,” Jena said.

Life in the [Fashion] Fast Lane Before leaning into Western fashion, Jena described herself as “the typical Buckle shopper” and “not very creative.” In fact, she didn’t start focusing on fashion until she first attended the National Finals Rodeo (NFR) in 2014. That year, Trevor went into “the Finals” in the #1 position in the steer wrestling world standings. Tiffany Cooper was writing a magazine article all about the “Number One Guys’ Number One Girls,” and she needed a picture of

to trends, to what people were wearing, and using Pinterest to find inspiration for putting outfits together. She was a quick study, and her classy style paired with a finesse for writing hilarious Instagram captions began attracting the attention of thousands in the Western industry. Her social following grew dramatically when brands like Wrangler, Brit West, and the Frosted Cowgirls asked Jena to model their products and began tagging her in their advertising photos.

When it comes to putting together the perfect

outfit, Jena’s advice is to build the ensemble around one piece. That piece could be anything - booties, shorts, a necklace, a jacket, etc. A self-described “more is more” kind of gal, Jena treats her style the same way she treats her Instagram captions, never taking herself too seriously and always mixing in generous amounts of wit and humor. “I love huge jewelry. Most everything I have is fun and statement-making and ridiculous. It makes it easier on outfit choice because if the jewelry and accessories are fun, you can get away with more basic pieces of clothing,” Jena said. “It took a lot of experimenting for me to find my style. I tried a lot of ideas and sometimes it worked, and sometimes it didn’t. I finally feel like I'm in a place where I know what my style is. I love taking basic pieces and adding a ton of accessories and jewelry to make it my own thing.”
