I always strive to inspire others to be true to them- selves and to follow their dreams. Although, oth- ers people’s visions are not worth chasing and dreams don’t come true by daydreaming, it takes hard work and dedication. Thus I tell them to feed their “Dream Machine” with big dreams, plans, hard work, and celebration so any dream is possible! My family didn’t do rodeo growing up and I decided to do it on my own once I was an adult so I believe I can inspire others that it is possible no matter what stands in your way, dreams are achievable if you are willing to work for them.

Katie, you have developed a marketing tool or goal system. Called the “Gheen Machine”, please share with our readers the “Gheen Machine? Growing up I developed the nickname “Gheen Ma- chine” because once I set my mind on something I made it happen no matter what stood in my way. I was a driving force, a machine at work and so the name stuck! Although I wanted use my determina- tion and drive to encourage others to chase their dreams and passions as well; so that’s where the Dream Machine platform started.

Katie Gheen Miss Rodeo Arizona 2018! How has this year been for you? Share some of the highlights with our readers? This year has been a whirl wind traveling from one rodeo to the next; making memo- ries and friendships that will last a life time! In February, I traveled across the country where I spent over a week with my sash sisters in sunny Florida for the Silver Spurs Rodeo. We went to countless school visits, played on the beach, rode on air boats, and even went to Gator Land where I kissed a gator! In July, I was able to visit some of my family in Cheyenne, Wyoming for the Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo and run one of the most iconic hot laps of a rodeo queen’s career. I rode Hobo who took me barreling down the race track at what felt like a million miles an hour, a smile covering my face but the ride quickly came to an end, and Hobo slid to a stop, covering me in the Wyo- ming mud!

Katie, you’re a role model to young women, and beyond the make-up, the wings, and the Western Clothes you display. What is your message or plat- form that you stand by? How do you inspire other young women?

Katie, you’re a Member of Cowgirls Historical Foundation, would you share with our read- ers how you became involved with CHF, and a brief history on CHF? In 2013, I started with Cowgirls Historical Founda- tion as a Cowgirl in training riding with their drill team as well volunteering with charitable events throughout year preserving and promoting our western heritage while giving back to our com- munity. Today I am a full Cowgirl and continue to ride with their drill team across the state and help with community service events like fashion shows, education programs, and auctions for our western heritage.

Each Issue of Horse & Agriculture Magazine we have a theme! The Oct/Nov Issue is “Spice in Your Life”, is there a spice or spices in your life, you would like to share with our readers? The Spices of my life would have to be my animals! My two dogs, Cici and Payson never let me have a dull moment in my day to day life and keep me com- pany on the rodeo road. They are never far from my side and spoiled rotten! Now who can forget about my handsome man, Cosmo who takes care of me in the rodeo arena and is a real looker!
