believed it was time for 3S Iron Beauty to have her baby. March came, and the couple spent each day checking her.


“Toward the end of the month, we were filled with anxiety because we were expecting the first baby any day,” Sandy says. “It was like our child was having a baby. At the same time, the world was watching April the Giraffe and everybody was waiting on her, so the stories were the same. She finally came in April, so we named her April.”


Their goal quickly became to build a foundation of quality cattle with the best genetics. A lot of their cows have been producing great and measuring above 70” at young ages.


“Some are doing really good, and all of our young heifers reached more than 50” at two. They are growing fast, and we will continue to monitor each month. We really want to build some good pedigrees.”


One of Eitan’s big goals became something that many believe is impossible. But as he says, “It’s not a matter of if, but a matter of when.” Most of his life, Eitan made proclamations, and they were fulfilled because of God. “I confess out of my mouth what I want, and I’m always led to the places or things that will help me with those things, because I had the belief that if you want it, you have to be dedicated.” The other major goal for the Barhum’s program is to produce


A Place of Relaxation


Te Barhums knew right away they wanted to enjoy time with their Longhorns. Along the fence line, Eitan built a sitting area that quickly became their favorite spot. It was here that Eitan was able to capture a special moment between Sandy and Iron Beauty. “It’s all about the Longhorns now, every day we go to this sitting area,” Eitan says. “Tey always come and stand in front of us and ask for cubes. Out of all the ranch, this is our favorite spot, as it represents our lives now.”
