The Texas Longhorn Legacy Sale

It is interesting to take a look back to see how much Texas Longhorns were selling for at premier sales. In 1979, new records were set at the WR Sale, one of the select sales of the time. An all-time record was set for a weanling bull calf, selling for $3,700. The top-selling heifer at the time was worth $3,200. The sale report noted something that has not changed throughout the years, “the more these…cattle cost, the more people seem to want them.”

In 1977, records were set at the YO Sale when a four-year-old Longhorn cow and heifer calf sold for $4,400, and minutes after that record, an eight-year-old Longhorn steer brought $4,700. Auctioneer Eddie Woods said, “It was the best Longhorn sale I’ve ever handled.”

Today, people are still talking about the 2017 Texas Longhorn Legacy Sale. The highest selling lot, 3S Danica consigned by Alan and Teresa Sparger and purchased by Bill and Judy Meridith, smashed the world record selling for $380,000. It was an amazing night, and everyone in attendance could feel the excitement.

This type of excitement and enthusiasm for chart-topping Longhorns can only be found at the Longhorn Legacy Sale. The absolute best animals are consigned to the sale. The absolute best breeding programs from across the country attend to buy and sell. It is the must-attend event of the year, and it is coming your way on March 16-17, 2018 at the Embassy Suites and Outdoor World in Grapevine, TX.

Friday night will include a huge party with live music! In your best western wear, enjoy a great party provided by entertainment hosts, Frank and Michelle Hevrdejs. This year’s entertainment will once again be the country-western band, the Wesley Westbrook Band.

Saturday evening will be a time to shine as the sale showcases magnificent Longhorn cattle being paraded through the grand ballroom of the hotel. Start planning now to make your mark on the Legacy Sale XIV.
