Taking A Look At Some Of The Greats – Wiregrass Laura


There are many greats of the Texas Longhorn industry that have made a significant contribution to the overall breed. It is difficult to say any one Texas Longhorn has changed the face of the Longhorn, however, collectively, there are many greats who put their mark on the breed. The Texas Longhorn Journal will take a look each month at those Longhorns who can be considered among the greats of the industry.


Her pedigree includes Phenomenon, Bold Ruler, and Measles Super Ranger. Bold Ruler was a F.M. “Blackie” Graves bred bull. Although not straight Butler, Bold Ruler was out of Blackie’s herd that was started with Butler cattle. He was considered the longest-horned bull for his age and the breed during the 70s. Superior was considered the best son of Blue Horns and an excellent producer. He was used for years to bring the straight Butler line into breeding programs. Bold Ruler and Superior were both listed in the March/April 1998 issue of the Texas Longhorn Journal for The Butler Bloodline’s 29 Most Influential Bulls & Females.
