2017 Report By Hired Hand Software.
As we begin a new year, it is beneficial for every breeder to research the trends of the Longhorn industry, which
helps them
prepare for the 2018 breeding program. While not the only data available, Hired Hand Software offers several services and products to Texas Longhorn breeders to help them stay more informed.
The data outlined below was cultivated from those various services and products including:
- Hired Hand powered websites (public data only)
- Hired Hand Live (internet bidding and broadcasting service used for consignment and dispersal sales)
- Hired Hand Search:

- “Intercom” (Hired Hand’s on-line customer support chat feature)
Prepared by Molly Clubb of Hired Hand, the report includes those sales which used Hired Hand Live in 2017, the Texas Longhorn
Legacy Sale, and Hudson Valentine Fort Worth Sale that Hired Hand attended. It does not include other sales that Hired Hand could not attend and those that did not use Hired Hand Live.
Great News for 2018: All sales will be included in Hired Hand’s semi-annual and annual reports, so that they may be more inclusive.
Please note that Hired Hand strives to ensure all of this data is accurate. However, human error happens so please don’t hold any mistakes found against them or us. They donate their time and resources to tabulate and publish this data in hopes that it can assist breeders for future breeding and program decisions.

According to Hired Hand research and the sales from which they gathered, for 2017 data, the overall consignment average for 2017 was $4,462. You will see this number referenced throughout the report as a cut off for monetary information on animals.
