From the Readers

It is probably the toughest question that I have ever asked of the readers – If money was not a factor, which Texas Longhorn would you like to purchase? Te answers were surprisingly varied…from bulls to cows, from past legends to up-and-coming stars. Some of the breeders out there would purchase their own cattle all over again, like Mike Beijl from MB Longhorns who said, “I like what I have collected over the years. I probably wouldn’t change much.” But, the one thing that was common throughout the responses was that everyone had a favorite due to the whole package that the Texas Longhorn possesses – not just one single trait. While we still look at the horns as a main factor for why or why not a Texas Longhorn is great, all breeders realize it is the total package of conformation, milking ability, color, body weight, etc., that makes this breed stand out from all the rest.

Kristina Bentz from Heaven On Earth said, “Tis is hard because do you pick a bull or a cow? Aſter looking at my top favorite cows, looks like Nancy Dunn’s cow wins for me ‘200 Percent’ every time! She has body, conformation, color, horns, and great offspring.” Brett Krause agreed with Kristina sayining, “I don’t think the ‘why’ applies, thank you Nancy Dunn.”.”
