Invariably, someone during each visit has asked what I have experienced during my year as chair. Now, as my time as IAVM Chair of the Board of Di- rectors comes to a close, I’d like to share what I have learned with you. IAVM is as strong, or stronger today, than it has been in my 22

years of membership. Over the past year, I have seen this demonstrat- ed in four important ways. First, we have exceptional members and  membership’s interests. VenueConnect, our annual meeting, has been thoughtfully redesigned to provide both higher quantity and quality of educational sessions, now with more than 130 hours of compelling content packed into the four-day conference. With all of our participation, we can easily double this investment and ensure that our premiere programs are accessible to even more of our members. Most of all, this year reminded me that IAVM is a truly venerable

association because of the dedication, passion, and excellence of its members. Everywhere I visited, I witnessed members working with - nancial performance. I observed volunteers dedicating many precious hours to serve on a task force or committee to noticeably advance the mission of IAVM. A record-setting 211 members raise their hand and agreed to help enhance IAVM’s impact on our industry by serving as a volunteer for the coming year. I am truly grateful for each personal interaction, whether on a committee conference call, a reception, boot camp, email, phone, or hallway conversation. During these connections, members regularly shared their story of why IAVM has been so important in their ca- reer and even their life. They gained important knowledge that helped them achieve a promotion or move to a venue in a larger market. They learned that the work they loved doing is truly a profession with tens of  - sel from their network of IAVM peers when facing an unanticipated challenge. They received a valuable “heads-up” about a problematic attraction or promoter from a friend who was earlier on the route. They earned a respected credential that helped them gain credibility with their boss. They met their mentor, best friend, professional inspi- ration, or even the love of their life at one of our programs. Lives were saved in their venue because of training they received from IAVM. I am truly grateful for the privilege of serving as the Chair of

IAVM. Thank you for your support, guidance, passion, and friendship over the past year. I’d like to believe that these stories that were shared with me represent the outcomes that were envisioned by the seven building managers who met in December of 1924 to form our asso- ciation. Hopefully, the work that we have accomplished this year will contribute to their great legacy of volunteer leadership so that IAVM will continue to inspire leaders, build expertise, and create connections for life.
