To re- turn to Bloomington to enhance what we were doing at my venue with   was astounded that there was an organization I could join to build those professional connections and gain that knowledge.” Booher must have been impressed, because not only has he not missed an annual conference since then, but thanks to the encourage- ment and mentorship of industry icons like Randy Brown, CFE, and the late David Ross, CFE, he began volunteering on the Universities Committee, Finance Committee, and in Region II. Harking back to his thoughts about all the crossover that venue managers deal with these days, Booher noted that it is part of daily life for those who work at universities. “People think that universities are not exactly a sector,” he said, “and that’s true because many of us are managing performing arts centers or arenas, stadiums or conference centers. There are a unique set of circumstances, however, that university venue professionals en- counter, and to have the opportunity to circle up with my colleagues from universities across the country has always been a cherished expe- rience provided by the Association.” Booher has not only had the support of his peers and colleagues in Bloomington as he prepares for his year as chairman, but that of his wife, Sarah, as well. IAVM headquarters,” Booher said. “Together, we have set aggressive goals for where the Association should be in the next year. My personal desire is to ensure that we’re doing our very best to communicate with our members and actively include them as we advance those goals. We will strengthen the connection that we have with our members by the next July, when I am passing the chair’s gavel on to Michael Marion.  

involve our members, they will understand they are relevant to the Association. Most importantly to me, that must be initiated by the As- sociation as we deliver relevant education, foster treasured industry relationships, and provide authentic inspiration to our members.” Booher has been inspired by others many times in his ascending career. Now he is ready to be the one to do the inspiring. FM
