In the Fall of 2016, Gail Miller, owner and chairman of the Larry plan of major upgrades to the Vivint Smart Home Arena, home of the NBA Utah Jazz. In making the announcement, Miller said, “The arena has been a community gathering place for the past 25 years, and who comes to the building for a sports event, concert or family show.”
Jamie, tell us about those upgrades. and team locker rooms, doubling the club level to 40,000 square feet, and adding eight new club level entrances directly into the lower bowl. All concessions are being remodeled, six new local restaurant concepts are being added, and the suite level has a complete remodel along with an upper bowl concession remodel. The upper club level which is above the top row of seats in the upper bowl is being opened up on the front of house side as a large social area. There is a new 14,000 square foot entrance on the ground level for access to the main ticket the existing footprint of the building to provide far better access and accessibility for our patrons.
What brought about the decision for this major investment? The building looks great for its 26th birthday. Larry and Gail Miller designed a timeless building on a 10-acre plot of land right in the

middle of downtown Salt Lake City, but with changing economics and demographics of the tri-county area, it was time to reimagine a great building for the next 25 years.
In addition to upgrading aging amenities and building systems, what will be included to improve the fan experience? Great question. Fan experience is at the top of our list of reasons to do the remodel. In addition to all the new food concepts, we are adding additional escalators to the top of the upper bowl, better circulation throughout the arena with additional entrances into the bowl from each level, new padded seating, upgraded sound system, sports light- ing, and new Wi-Fi and DAS systems.
What energy eficiency systems will be included in the project? Undertaking a major reconstruction project of this size cannot prog- measures. Our top two major goals were to control costs and, at the same time, be a steward of our community.
